The Enemy of the West

We must know who is our friend and foe, to avoid various confusions in life. Who is the enemy of the west? To make sure the right answer for this will help the west, and the global community as a whole, to avoid various implications in international relations, conflicts, loss of property, and life due to conflicts.

Russian annexation of Crimea and its support to pro-Russian rebels fighting the Ukraine’s army, led the United States and their European allies to impose sanctions on Russia. The sanctions infuriated the Russians who were saber rattling with nuclear weapons. The situation in Ukraine is of lesser importance to both United States and Europe, it was neither a real threat from Russia. Crimea was part of Russia, which was united with Ukraine for administrative reasons , during the presidency of Nikita Kruchev  in former Soviet Union. Even though, Ukraine, now an independent nation, was an ex-Soviet state with close cultural and historic bond with Russia.

What the sanctions have achieved other than complicating the situation more and more? Of course  it  caused some strain on Russian economy, and employment, and the same sanctions strained the economy of European countries to the tune of 100 billion Euros, Germany, Poland, France , and Italy are the countries affected by the sanctions according to a News Week report. There are severe losses to United States to if not in economic terms, but in other crucial areas.

Russia is pioneer in space and rocket technology, Americas space agency NASA often depend upon Russia for various technological issues related with space research , it should be noted that a few other countries actively engaged in space research such as India, China, and Brazil are also solely depend on Russian technological assistance. Therefore it was evident that the United  States need the collaboration of Russia not only in space but to solve a number of international crisis issues, which  the United States was incompetent to solve, and even ignored the Russian advices on various occasions, and  embroiled itself in the crisis with bloodshed and no end to the problem. Iraq, Syria, and Libya are some of them.

It would not be a wise idea to antagonize Russia at a time , when the U.S-China relations are heading toward a confrontational mode. China’s recent emergence as a economic power, and its ambition to become regional and global power is threatening the very, role of United States in the Asia Pacific region. It is the communist China a real challenge to United States not Russia.

Since the end of the Cold War and the breakup of Soviet Union, as former American President Ronald Reagan declared the real threat of the future world community is ‘Islamic terrorism’
For the last five decades, case studies on International relations are analyzed; it would give a surprising answer for the current and future crisis in the world peace and prosperity. Since the end of World War II, the cold war started between communist east, and capitalist west led by the Soviet Union, and the United States respectively. Throughout the periods there were wars such as Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Cuban revolution.

Future of Syria

Dozens of armed groups are fighting in Syria, for and against the Syrian government as well as ISIS and Al Qaeda. Relatively peaceful middle , other than the Israeli Palestinian conflicts become hot spot of bloodshed and mayhem. Anyone who observed the international crisis in the past few decades will realize that all of this will be the fall out of Iraqi Invasion of United States and its allies. Though various terrorist organizations existed long before, their reach and intensity was of a limited amount. The disbanded Iraqi soldiers and officers, who had years of experience in War and battlefield, have no other choices for their livelihood, other than fighting for some Islamist groups including ISIS and al Qaeda, which exploited their experiences. Now, United States with its allies are arming and training anti-Assad groups in Syria, the same way what they did a few decades back, arming and training the Afghans against then Soviet Union. After the collapse o

The dilemma, the US faces in its foreign Policy

Following the assassination of Iran’s Quds forces commander Qassem Soleimani, the US faces challenging foreign policy dilemma in the Middle East. The US is aware of the fact that, any conflict with Iran is costly in terms of material and manpower. As many of the US bases are within the striking range of the Iranian ballistic missiles. Many of the allies in the Middle East including   Saudi Arabia and UAE, don’t like any open conflict with Iran, as it could go spiralling out   of control.   Most of the Pro US countries in the region are surrounded by Iran controlled proxy militias, in Iraq, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon.  The powerful aircraft carriers of US navy found its fire power obsolete before the swarm of small speed boats of Iranian navy during the recent incident involving bombing of Saudi bound oil tankers in the gulf. Saudi Arabia lost its trust on the US weapons, following a series of missile attacks by Iranian proxies on its vital oil nstallatons. There after

How Russia impressed the world?

Despite the Western sanctions, and crippling economy, Russia is moving ahead with hosting the South East Asian Association in the Russian resort city of Sochi. The interesting aspect of this submit is that many of the member countries take part in the summit, were close allies of United States , that indicates their mistrust on the   United States’ policy. But how Russians overcome their heart is something noteworthy. First, since the collapse of the Soviet Union and break up of Soviet states into independent countries, Russia never involved in an armed conflict outside of its territory. The recent crisis in Ukraine, and subsequent Western sanctions were viewed by the World as a pure Russian internal problem, that means most of the world still consider the Ukraine and Crimea, as a Russian issue, not a sovereign state issue. The Russian intervention in Syria and its achievement in the conflict by forcing the warring factions into a negotiating table impressed the world
